Color Palettes Accent Environmental, Global Trends
South American and Japanese
- Shades from terracotta
orange to indigo blue to creamy white - reflect our relationship to the elements
used throughout the ages which give significance to color - fire, water, earth
and air. They are also inspired by the use of color from cultures around the
world-including South American and traditional Japanese.
Asian Movement - Culture will influence many color
choices. From clean, clear reds and deep plums to soothing blue-and-white
combinations, these hues can be used as exciting accents or to produce a restful
space.
Vintage
movement - There is a new
trend for visually stimulating textures and metallic-inspired
hues like Pewter and Bronze alongside weathered gold's. Contemporary Faux Finish techniques
using products such as Luster Stone, Metallic Paint, Venetian Plaster and Glaze
create warm textures giving a space a feeling of serenity and calm in a space
that is insulated from common daily stresses.
Finally, neutral hues spiced with a metallic or an iridescent appearance step up
in popularity and provide a respite from technology overload.
KITCHEN TRENDS
The
trend is toward a brushed stainless and black with warmer wall colors. The
customer wants to find a balance in their lives between the influences of
technological and nature.
Faux Dry Brush
Finish
When it comes to color homeowners
take the personal approach and paint
with colors to illicit a mood rather
than worrying about making a statement.
Reds
continue to lead the
consumer forecast .
Blues,
specifically blues inspired by the environment, are leading the color grouping.
Blue and green inspired by ocean hues, evening skies can be used as both an accent color as
well as a predominant color.
A new
retro trend is Blue/Green paired with Brown.
(Blue is the most popular color in America). Blue remains diverse, ranging from
light, watery colors to mid-tone botanicals to dark intense blues. Turquoise is
retro and spa-like, teal makes an appearance, and dark blue get blacker and more
formal.
Texture is also
being incorporated into paint surfaces.
